I'm bringing ______ back.

Words have power. Speech gives power to actions. And I think speech is incredible. Really think about it, putting syllables together into words, phrases, and sentences is awesome.

Lots of regions have words that are exclusive to the area. The west has bro, dude, and cool. The east coast has things like sick and wicked. Not to mention English phrases like bloody, blimey, or pansy.

Don't they all sound fun? I've decided to attempt to bring some "unusual" words not native to Texas into my everyday life. Every month i'll chose a word to introduce to the Texans and I'll keep you updated on how it goes! Basically, I'm quite excited.

This month I'm going to try "wicked". I'm sure that there are going to be some strange looks but nothing can dampen my spirit!

Chanel... Or Not.

It's time for another eddition of 10 Minute Trend! 

Today we've been inspired by Chanel's Spring 2012 collection. Because any classy or preppy girl loves pearls. 

Pearls were all the rage on the runway for noted French fashion house. They were everywhere, pinned in hair, stuck on the back in an ascending way, and around necks and wrists. 

Inspired by this DIY from Honestly... WTF I set out to create my own pearl pins. 

What you need:

12 pearl beads

12 bobby pins

108 inches of thin gauge jewelry wire (9 inches per pin)

Scissors

Super glue

What to do:

Start by threading the wire through the pearl bead and twisting the end of it so the bead is closed off.

Next twist the wire around the pin until you are satisfied with the stability, if there's extra wire then use the scissors to take off the excess. Just make sure that it's hidden and tucked away so it won't poke you. 

 Lastly, for some extra insurance put a small drop of super glue on the area where the wire meets the bobby pin. Let it dry and wear your new "designer" pins with pride!

Crazy Awesome!

So... I've been away from you kids for a few days. Sorry about that. I've been in Missouri at my Grandparent's and getting my sister settled in in her new apartment for a new school year. 

HOWEVER, I' have plenty to post about in the next few days! I got so much inspiration from being in a new environment! 

I also got to go to one of my favorite stores in the world. It's called The Scholar Shop and it's only in St. Louis. It's less than 5 minutes from my grandparent's house and has the best consignment I've ever seen, and I do lots of resale shopping. The best part of The Scholar Shop? It's a 501 (c)  (3) not for profit organization. AKA it's a not for profit organization, any and all profits that are not used to keep the store open are used for scholarships for young underprivileged women attempting to better themselves by going to college! Is that not great? Shopping for a cause! 

I'll post something about my MASSIVE haul sometime sometime this week with pictures. But for now, let's just say that I' pretty much ready for school...

Coloring Outside The Lines

 There are some things I love that are, well, less than preppy. But that's okay. We don't have to stay within parameters defined by a specific style. It's good to color outside the lines sometimes.

Some of my favorite things are...

1. Athletic Shorts- I have lots. There technically for Rugby practice and working out. I'm not going to lie, I love lounging in them. If they were in school dress code (there specifically banned) I might be tempted to wear them to class every day. I really can't wait to be in college and wear what I want.

2. Teal Toes- We all know that I love nail polish. And my favorite color IS blue. I have a teal that I use frequently (OPI's Fly from the Nicki Minaj collection). Basically it makes me happy to have a colorful pop of color on my toes. Open toed summer sandals are lots more fun.`

3. Star Wars- I was raised as a tomboy. I loved big clothes, and the Power Rangers. Not to mention Star Wars. George Lucas is basically my favorite director. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher are masters of the screen, even with Mark and Carrie's limited experience at the time, the original 3 movies are perfection, episode six being my favorite. The Ewoks are just so cute! (Fun Fact: when I write on the family calender that I have work I write E work. With my hand writing it ends up like Ework, close to Ewok.)

4. Slouchy Sweatshirts- You know, the big ones with no hood, 80's inspired, tight band at the bottom? Yeah, those. They're super comfy and make me feel lazy. Lounging around with a cup of hot chocolate, big sweat pants, and a slouchy sweatshirt watching Star Wars is high on my winter priorities. And it should be on yours too. (I'm loving this Jane Austen inspired slouchy sweatshirt by Bookish)

5. Rugby- As the majority of you know, I play Rugby. "A hooligan's sport played by gentlemen." Or in my case, classy girls. I began playing in the spring of Freshman year and in November I'll be entering my 3rd season. Basically, I love it. The rush of a properly executed tackle. Getting excited over your first try (and becoming a Zulu Warrior). Tournaments are such fun, getting to know girls from other teams, and getting to know your team better. Last year the two highlights of the season were the Under 19's Texas All Star Tournament and winning the State Championship for the second straight year. At the All Star Tournament all the players from around Texas got together and stayed in the same hotel. We had a great late night hot tub session (I got dumped in in my clothes) and getting to know younger college players and fellow high school athletes was amazing. And winning was, well, winning. It was bittersweet, our season ended with a bang but our seniors left. Saying goodbye was heart wrenching.

And So It Begins

School is starting in a matter of mere weeks for me, and that means many things. But one thing is on my mind more than others. 

Homecoming. 

Granted, ours is crazy late, November 10th to be exact, but I'm already thinking and planning for it. 

Groups, dinners, dates, clothing, and appointments. There all important. 

It's probably because I hate doing things at the last minute for fear of forgetting something. But it might be because I really like planning things. 

The point is, I'm already looking at dresses. 

I know I'm going for gold, blue, or sequined. And I would prefer one shouldered for dancing reasons (no one wants a wardrobe malfunction) but that is flexible (I've managed strapless for the past two years). 

My ideal dress is this Terani Couture creation in gold. It's gold and shiny and I feel like an Oscar award in it. However, It's almost $500 at the local boutique. And that's just ridiculous. It's a dress for Junior year homecoming, not even prom. So I'm still looking.

(Side note, I look decent in it too!)

I also ADORE this amazing Terani. I feel like with a late homecoming date the colors would be wonderful for November. I haven't ever really seen anything like it. However, again with Terani, the price of the dress is CRAZY. Almost $600. So this is shot down too. However, I haven't been able to find it in stores here so it's even more not an option.

I'm still looking, but those are my current favorites and I just felt like sharing. If you happen to see anything like that go ahead and share!

I just love planners and agendas. I love being organized and knowing what's coming, as well as what I've already done. I feel so accomplished when I turn a page signifying that the week is over, I have survived however hectic and crazy the week was, it's over now. 

Finding a pretty planner that works for you is an accomplishment. Picking out a new planner is some of the most fun I have at the office supply store (or online). 

I can't wait until my current agenda runs out so I can get a new one. Quite frankly if it was beneficial for me to have multiple agendas, I would. But sadly that confuses me more than anything. So everything just goes in the same.
