Classy Storage

Things that smell good are possibly some of my favorite things... 

Perfume is the best. And I my love for perfume is translated into its storage, well it will be.

I'm currently looking for a mirrored tray to properly display my lovelies.

Help me pick one?

Pottery Barn Speakeasy Tray- I'd totally get it with my initial, not sure how much I like the railing, it might get in the way a tad...

Touch Of Class- It's so eleagant! LOVE! The little feet are so cute!

Etsy Rod Tray- It's so cute and simple... I don't like how it's chipped, but that could easily be covered. I'm just not sure that I would like to pay over $40 for something that is imperfect.

There is another option... I could just make my own with a mirror, a wooden frame and some paint to match my new room design... 

 Speaking of... I'm so excited to show you all what it's going to look like! I can't wait for everything to be done! This might be a while, but the bedding is on its way! But I won't show it until it's all done. And I mean ALL done. Unless of course I cave and just show it in bits...

Thank Goodness

I'm a sufferer of frequent and severe migraines.

And I am so incredibly thankful to live in a time when my crippling headaches can easily be treated. 

Imagine living in a world where you had a condition, one that would eventually kill you.

There were treatments being developed to prolong your life, but the federal government dragged its feet. While they tested and delayed getting medicine out to the public, you watched your friends, colleagues, and family members die. There was nothing to be done.

That's the premise behind the Oscar nominated documentary How To Survive A Plague.

How To Survive A Plague uses archival footage, current interviews and first person accounts to paint the picture of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980's and 1990's in New York City. The documentary focuses on two AIDS activists groups, ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power) and TAG (Treatment Action Group). Both are run by AIDS patients and their allies. 

How To Survive A Plague was one of the most moving documentaries that I have ever seen. Seeing so many young people on screen and knowing that they didn't live to see 40 in most cases was extremely sobering. How To Survive A Plague teaches us that sometimes in order to get what we need, we have to break the rules. While sometimes the activists took things a little to far, I agree with them for the most part. It was largely due to the ACT UP and TAG activists that treatments like AZT were provided to AIDS sufferers in a much more timely manner. 

I hope that if my generation ever experiences something as terrible as AIDS I will have the courage and moral strength to act as the ACT UP and TAG members did. Only time will tell.

Thank You Notes

It's right after the holiday season, so there is no better time to refresh on writing a simple thank you card!

The main point is sincerity, closely followed by gratitude.

Focus on what you can do/use the gift for. When and where would it be appropriate to use it? Perhaps you could include an idea of what is going to happen to it, everyone likes to feel like their gift was the right thing, even if it wasn't. 

Say something nice about the person who gave you the gift, EX: "I can't wait to see you in June for graduation". 

Overall keep it simple. Nothing stinks like a letter that drags on longer than it should. No one said you were writing a novel. Just a few sentences will do fine.

Then sign off in the proper way according to your relation to the person. Sincerely, love etc.

New And Noteworthy

I've been inspired by all the Spring 2013 lines beginning to make their debut to start a new running section, New and Noteworthy. I'll just keep you updated on all my favorite new brands, new collections, and random favorite things. I'm really excited!

Sloane Ranger!

Sloane Ranger is a newer British preppy with a dash of nautical style brand.

The new products have really put a new emphasis on the New England, nautical vibe. 

And I'm totally loving it!

Along with new patterns some new shapes and designs came along for Spring 2013!

Here's what I'm adoring from Sloane Ranger right now.

The new patterns are really cute this season! The lobsters and the denim stripes are my favorites for sure!

The Oversized Tablet Clutch looks absolutely adorable! I'm loving the new shape for a tablet case. I'm looking for a case for my new iPad and this is at the top of the pack. I'd totally go for the denim stripes. One of my favorite parts, the leather is vegan friendly!

The new phone cases are really nice too. The fact that you can choose to get it for an iPhone 4/4s or a 5 is really handy too! I'd totally go for the lobsters, but that's probably just my Boston side coming out...

Another of my favorites are the new weekender bags. They look great, super big too. That would be wonderful for me, a clinical over-packer. The anchors are totally calling my name here!

Basically I'm really pleased with the new line. I've watched Sloane Ranger grow for the last year or so, and the new direction is great!

Green

I feel like green is going to be my color this year.

I'm really quite excited about it.

I've always worn blue so much that other things got shunted to the side. But new things are growing on me this year. This first Classy Tuesday of the year was a direct reflection of this new time.

I felt effortlessly conformable for the first day back at school from the break but still happy with how I looked and how I was in relation to the weather, which was HORRIBLE. Raining cats and dogs is an understatement.

Also: the Steve Madden Heaven flats are the best thing in the world. Crazy comfy and super classy yet understated. Totally the best plain flats ever. The black ones are wonderful too! And Steve just came out with a grey one...

Just a quick hello

It's The End.

 It's the end. I've finished it. And there's never going to be any more. 

Gossip Girl that is.

Guys, I finished it. It's taken me 3 months and a few hundred hours but it's all done! 

I don't know how to feel. I'm really happy to have finished it and be caught up and all, but on the other side, I'm excited that It's done. I'm slightly upset. I feel really connected to the characters and I'm sad that I don't get to see any more of them. Secretly all of us want to be as, shall we say, liberated as Serena or as carefree as Chuck. 

The secret reveal of who Gossip Girl was, was a TOTAL surprise to me.

Not to mention it was totally implausible.

Ugh, I went back and re-watched a few of the earlier episodes and I think that I totally busted the plausability of the real person. They were with other people when blasts came out with no time for them to create the blasts. 

Basically, I'm annoyed. But I'm glad that the series is over. The plot lines were getting stale and I needed a complete overhaul or to be stopped. 

The epilogue was wonderful. I cried a little. Okay, I cried a lot. I was just happy to see that everyone was finally happy after so much heartache and they had all gotten what they wanted. 

Yes, I'm that much of a sap bag.
