It's that time of year again, the men are gathering in front of the television and the women in the kitchen, all to celebrate the pilgrims stealing the Indian's land...
Well, that's the cynic's view of today... My version goes a little something like this...
My mom flies out to phoenix and my sister flies in from school, we head over to our dad's house for an intense week of prep work...
We cook from Tuesday-Thursday and have not a second of breathing room in between each dish. We have the traditional Cardiac Arrest Dip, Rullkoetter Mashed Potato Casserole, Paula's Carrot Souffle and home made pumpkin pie dip with ginger snaps. Because our extended family lives so far away we have our very own "Thanksgiving Of Misfits". Which is basically all my dad's friends who live in the area without their families all come over and bring whoever they want. Michael brings the turkey which is always over 20 pounds and stuffing , Dan and Nichole bring all sorts of cajun things, and Howard brings his mom's sweet potato pie...
And we all eat together and celebrate another year of football and the Texans loosing (although they might not this year).
I hope that everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Don't eat to much,
~E
